David E. Klaasen

David Edward Klaasen, age 86, died peacefully at University of Michigan Health- West Hospital, Wyoming, Michigan, on January 9, 2023. David “Dave” is survived by his wife Dorothy; Son Doug (Karie) Klaasen of Holland MI; Daughter Denise Stancill (Stephen) of Holland, MI; Son in-law Steve Philips of Traverse City, MI (the late Diane Klaasen); his siblings Dr. Gene Klaasen (Linda) of Holland, MI; Ruthmary Van Dokkumburg (Webb) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and Grandchildren Stacey Mossel of Seattle, Washington; Chris and Maddie Mossel; Jennifer and Katie Klaasen; Hayden and Olivia Stancill all of Holland, MI and well as nieces, nephews and in-laws. Dave was born January 4,1937, and graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1955. Dave made his profession as a builder and small business owner. Serving as owner of Klaasen Construction for many years he facilitated and assisted with many commercial and residential building projects in and around the City of Holland and West Michigan. Dave valued his church community and served as part of his church consistory in various roles throughout his lifetime. On October 23, 1959, Dave married his wife Dorothy of whom he shared 63 years of life. Dave was an honest, hard-working man who found great satisfaction in his role as a builder. Through his work, he built a lifetime of relationships with many; relationships he greatly valued. Dave was a devoted husband and father, an avid outdoorsmen, a person of faith and someone who loved to sing and enjoy music in general. Over his lifetime, Dave participated in various church choirs, duets and quartets, the Evergreen Chorale, and as a soloist. Dave found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life. His most cherished moments involved his time spent with family, his many close friends and with his church community. Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
