Mr. Dennis Wyngarden

Dennis Wyngarden, 92, of Zeeland, loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away February 3, 2015. Dennis was born January 15, 1923, in Zeeland, to Edward and Minnie (Sluiter) Wyngarden. He graduated from Zeeland High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. The naval landing craft Dennis served on brought soldiers to Normandy Beach on D-Day. Dennis married Mary Ann Leeuw in 1945, and they raised three sons together. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Zeeland where he served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday school teacher. Dennis also enjoyed serving on several mission trips. Dennis worked for Mead-Johnson/Bristol Myers for 42 years prior to his retirement. Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann Leeuw Wyngarden in 2002. Dennis married again in 2005 to Sylvia Van Hoven. He was also preceded in death by his son Alan Wyngarden in 1995, his daughter-in-law Lili Taylor Wyngarden in 1999, and his brother Clifford Wyngarden in 1944. He is survived by his wife of 10 years Sylvia; children: Mike Wyngarden, Philip and Linda Wyngarden; daughter-in-law Fran Waterman, grandchildren: Becca Wyngarden, Brianna and Todd Beilfuss, Keith and Susan Wyngarden, Kim and Nate Baker; great grandchildren: Jeremy Wyngarden, Lili Beilfuss, Ian Wyngarden, Joel Wyngarden, Alison Wyngarden, Jada Baker and Rilee Baker; Step-children: Chris and Lisa Van Hoven, Mark and Christy Van Hoven; Step-grandchildren: Lydia Van Hoven, Francie Van Hoven, Gracie Van Hoven, Seth and Erica Van Hoven, Erin and Dan Root, Jon and Amy Wolters, Eric and Christine Van Hoven; Step-great grandchildren: Savannah Van Hoven, Garret Wolters, Carmen Wolters, Corbin Wolters, Brock Wolters, Carly Van Hoven, Daniel Van Hoven, Kelli Van Hoven; sister Geraldine Vruggink; in-laws Ivan Leeuw , Marvin and Mary Leeuw, Vernon and Betty Leeuw, Norma Vander Kolk, Beverly and Dale Mohr, Lorraine and Tony Woudwyk. Visitation is 2-4, 6-8 pm, Friday, February 6, Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Funeral services are 11:00 am, Monday, February 9, at First Reformed Church of Zeeland, 125 E.
