Henrietta Blacquiere

Henrietta Blacquiere (89) of Holland MI passed from this life to the next on Sunday morning, Oct 16. She was born in Hull, IA to Henry and Della (Bouma) Krommendyk in 1927 and is a current member of Pillar Church in Holland, MI. She graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, IA and taught for two years in a one room country school house in Ireton, IA. Through family ties, she met John and came to Michigan where they married in 1950. For the next few years she worked as a cashier at the A&P store before the first of 7 children were born. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Johnson; husband, John Blacquiere; brothers Bernie & Delmar (Henry); a sister, Joann Hoogland. She loved to attend church and spent many hours donating her time in the church kitchen. She also volunteered in the HCHS kitchens and for many catered events. She was a faithful volunteer for the World Home Bible League and an avid member of Right to Life. She loved to travel and visited Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, England, France, Netherlands, the Bahamas, Mexico and many areas of the continental US. She is survived by her children: Karen & Jack Strowenjans Kathy Blacquiere Doug & MaryJo Blacquiere Dave & Connie Blacquiere Rick & Lynn Blacquiere Jacquelyn & Tim McKee Son-in-law: Rick & Jane Johnson Sister: Margaret Disselkoen Brothers: Leonard & Lorraine Krommendyk, Preston & Carol Krommendyk Sisters-in-law: Cora Sterken, Gladys Blacquiere, Margaret Krommendyk, Sylvia Krommendyk Brother-in-law: Dick Hoogland 18 grandchildren & 18 great grandchildren. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of American House and Hospice of Holland for their support and compassion. Thanks to her friends at Pillar Church for their support and prayers. And, special thanks to Rev. Dave Sikkema for each visit though dementia made the conversation difficult; she appreciated every visit. Two visitation times are scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 1-3 and 5-7 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland MI. A service will be held at Pillar Church 57 E. 10th St. Holland MI on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 11:00 with a family only attended internment immediately after which will be followed by a light lunch in the church basement. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland MI.
