Jeanette Wiersma

Jeanette Lavene Wiersma, 99 Jeanette entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2016. She was born to Renze and Ella (Kooistra) Douma on April 16, 1917 in Randolph, Wisconsin. She married Samuel Henry Wiersma on August 12, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, a grandson, Shawn, an infant granddaughter, two infant great grandsons, and all nine of her siblings. She is survived by her four sons, James and Ruth Wiersma, of Green Bay, WI, Richard and Bonnie Wiersma, of Hudsonville, MI, Lawrence and Susan Wiersma, of Sanford, MI, and Peter and Julie Wiersma, of Zeeland, MI, 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She lived in the Randolph, WI area most of her life where she taught elementary grades for 31 years at Blaen Y Cae, Pin Hill, Immanuel Chr., Fisher, Waupun Chr., and Friesland Schools. After retiring from teaching, she became a quilter, blessing her children and grandchildren with many mementos of her creative works. She and her husband operated the Hi-Ho Plateau dairy farm in the Randolph/ Fox Lake WI area. She had a beautiful soprano voice that was heard at many weddings, funerals, and community gatherings. She was a member of the Second Chr. Reformed Church of Randolph, WI where she was an organist and soloist. In later years, she moved to the Holland/Zeeland MI area to be closer to family. She was a past President of the WI Women's division of The Bible League, to which memorial contributions should be designated. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Inn at Freedom Village of Holland, MI and Hospice of Holland for their loving care of Jeanette. A graveside service will take place in Randolph, WI, on November 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) at Randolph Cemetery with Rev. Keith Buist presiding. Lunch will be served at the Second Chr. Reformed Church following the graveside service. The family will meet visitors from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Haven Christian Reformed Church, 541 Alice Street, Zeeland, MI 49464, a celebration service of the life of Jeanette will follow at 11 a.m. The Reverend Keith Buist will preside.
