Louise Carpenter Grass

Louise (Logan) Grass, age 73, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Louise was a vibrant, loving, and talented woman, who loved the Lord and was not afraid to share it! She blessed countless people with her beautiful artwork, her creativity in everything she did, and her hardworking, overflowing generous heart. Life is not the same without her. We miss her terribly, but also rejoice that she is at peace with her Savior, happy and healthy like never before! We can’t wait to see her in her youthful vitality, and spend eternity with her. Louise was known for her passion of art and her love of sharing her work with others. Making her living on Jackson Square (N.O., LA) for 11 years, Louise continued honing her skill and blessing others with it in Tennessee in the later chapter of her life. She was a realist and known for her ability to capture the character of her subjects in mediums of oil, charcoal, pencil, pastel, and watercolor. She was inspired by her heritage of the Woodward brothers (William Woodward being her great-grandfather), who founded the school of art in New Orleans and perpetuated the Art Nouveau style supporting women to be artists as well (this was not customary at the time). Louise loved the country life, painting flowers, gardening, and making new friends. She leaves behind her husband Richard, daughters Adrienne & Amy, and countless friends who have been blessed by her art and social nature. Cancer made the last months of her life difficult, and it brings us joy to know she is young again and enjoying life the way she was created to. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." ~ 2 Corinthians 5:8 Louise is survived by her husband, Richard Grass; daughter, Adrienne and Isac Dymesich; daughter, Amy and David Kroll; grandchildren, Neil, Justin, Elliot, Emily, Eva; brother, Bud and Dale Logan; sister, Dixie Cockrell; brother, Bob and Joanie Logan; brother, Bill and Beverly Logan; brother-in-law, Robert and Gayle Grass; sister-in-law, Patricia and Benny Furgeson; sister-in-law, Cathy and Jack Wayne; brother-in-law, George and Dawn Grass; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family is 10:00-10:45 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Memorial services are at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at North Street Christian Reformed Church, 20 East Main Ave. Zeeland, MI 49464. Her heart was full of joy in the Lord, And often overflowed In telling others about His grace - She loved Him, and it showed. In all her struggles she learned and grew, And trusted God’s loving hand; She knew He works all things for good, And has a master plan. Her faith and strength was an inspiration; Her love was strong and true. We miss her smile and ready laugh, Her spunk and sparkle too. We miss her wonderful comforting hugs That warmed our hearts with love; Her care and sympathy as we shared What we were dreaming of. Her generous heart so freely gave, Abounding and happy to share; It was her joy to brighten others’ lives, And everyone knew she cared. Her Creator gave her a special gift To express the beauty of art - Her palette showed the wonder of Creation, from the heart. Her skill with brush and pencil gave A way to share with others, And express the love she wanted to show As a friend, a wife, a mother. We loved to watch how she could capture A likeness and a smile, With thoughtful detail and the loving touch Of her character and style. We miss her creative, expressive life, Her bright, encouraging ways - But we know her light shines brightest now, In unending joy and praise. While we eagerly wait to see her again, Longing no more to part, May her love and joy and generous spirit Live on in all our hearts.
