Randall Jay Lamer

Randall Jay Lamer, 82, of Zeeland, Michigan, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Randy was born on September 13, 1942, to Bernard and Angeline (Postma) Lamer in Zeeland, Michigan. After graduating from Zeeland High School in 1960, he joined the army. Shortly following his service, he started a forty-two-year career at Big Dutchman, where he rose through the ranks, ending as a Marketing Coordinator. His travels for work took him to places from Germany to Columbia to Africa and more. He enjoyed and was proud of these adventures. In 1961, Randy connected with Sandra (Wabeke) Lamer at Russ' Drive-in, married, and remained so for sixty-one years. They had three children. They spent their lives tending to their home, family, and faith, attending and participating in sporting events, and enjoying outdoor activities (camping, hunting, fishing). In 2004, Randy retired and spent his time golfing, coaching Faith Church softball, "advising" his grandkids in athletics, and wintering in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. There, Randy could be seen enjoying dinner at Pete's, riding along the beach, eating ice cream, chatting, and walking around the parks. Randy was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Mert and Frieda Wabeke; and his brother-in-law, Doug Wabeke. He is survived by his children: Scott and Julie Lamer and their daughter Maci and great-grandson Graysen; Tammy and Curt Barense and their children CJ and Robyn Barense and great-grandson Henry, Chandler Barense, and Tayte Barense; Rick and Marjorie Lamer and their daughters Samantha, Cassandra, and Annika; by his sister, Glenda and Al Holstege; and by his sisters-in-law, Nancy and Tom Curnick, and Cindy Wabeke. Randy will be remembered for his smart sense of humor, love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and enjoyment of ice cream, specifically Wendy's Frosties and Mickey ice cream bars. A service to honor the faith and life of Randall J. Lamer will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, October 25, 2024, in the sanctuary of Faith Reformed Church, 220 W. Central Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. There will be a visitation/light lunch reception from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Faith Church Gathering Area prior to the service. Interment will be at West Drenthe Cemetery.
