Dennis Overbeek

Dennis Overbeek, 71, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Monday, July 13, 2015. Den was born in Holland on July 21, 1943, to Charley and Hermina (Jansen) Overbeek. He graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1961 and went to barber school in Detroit. He married Judith Ver Hoef on February 6, 1964, and he and Judy are members of Hamilton Christian Reformed Church. Den was the owner of Den's Place in Holland for the last 21 years. He also loved hot rod cars. His latest, and his favorite, is his '34 Chevy Cabriolet. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Juke Ver Hoef, and brother Glenn Overbeek. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy, children and grandchildren: Steve Overbeek (Seth, Leah, Allie), Becky and Steve Laninga (Katelyn, Karli, Garrett), Ryan Overbeek (Grace, Olivia, Avery); siblings: Wayne and Nish Overbeek, Karl and RuthAnn Overbeek, Joan and Ken Essenburg; mother-in-law Sylvia Ver Hoef, in-laws: Dave and Rachel Ver Hoef, Marilyn Vander Wilp, Kathy and Paul Van Lente, many nieces and nephews. A service to honor and remember the faith and life of Dennis Overbeek will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, at Hamilton Christian Reformed Church, 3596 47th Street, Hamilton 49419. A visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 pm, Friday at the Langeland-Sternberg Funeral Home, 316 E. 16th Street, Holland. Pastor Jacob Porter will officiate. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland.
