Mrs. Gertrude Padding

March 23, 1930 - November 23, 2013

Gertrude Padding, 83, of Drenthe, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Gertrude was born in South Dakota on March 23, 1930, to Charles and Hilda (Staal) Keuning. The Keunings moved to Michigan and she eventually married John Padding. Gertrude and John were members of Drenthe Christian Reformed Church and raised their family in Drenthe. Gertrude served in the Drenthe CRC Ladies Aid Group and assisted in many of their ministries. John preceded Gertrude in death in 2002. Gertrude volunteered for over ten years at Zeeland Hospital and also served as a volunteer at Bibles for Mexico. She is survived by her children: Harlene Padding of Kalona, IA, Donna and Lyle McCann of Rockford, William Padding of Grand Rapids, Carl and Cheryl Padding of Ballwin, MO, Gayle and Sterret Carter of Alexandria; VA, 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Genevieve and Rev. Bernard Mulder, sisters-in-law: Marlene Padding, Viola Padding, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Drenthe Christian Reformed Church, 6344 Adams St., Zeeland, MI 49464. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 pm, Tuesday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Burial will be in East Drenthe Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Christian Education Fund at Drenthe CRC, or Refugee Services at Bethany Christian Services. www.yntemafh.com
