Herman Hoeve

January 6, 1933 - May 28, 2022

Herman Hoeve, age 89 of Zeeland, passed into his eternal home on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at The American House in Holland. Herm was born in Vriesland, MI and was a life-long member of Vriesland Reformed Church where he served on the consistory and helped many members with everyday living needs. His family moved to Zeeland when he was 17 years old. He graduated from Zeeland High School Class of ’51. He worked for the boat/clock/manufacturing companies in the local area as a machine operator and foreman, retiring from Haworth. Herm also enjoyed his hobby farm in Vriesland and watching the Detroit Tigers. Herm was able to travel to see many of the highlights of several states. His last trip was to Alaska which he thoroughly enjoyed. Herm was called to serve his country in the United States Army from 1953-55. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Gertie Hoeve; infant brother Howard Hoeve; sister/brother-in-law Marjorie and John Anderson; brother Harvey Hoeve; sister/brother-in-law Carolyn and John Harsevoort; brother-in-law Paul Vander Ploeg; brother/sister-in-law Roger and Helene Hoeve; brother-in-law Louis Stempfly; brother Marion Hoeve. He is survived by his siblings; sisters Martha Vander Ploeg and Joyce Stempfly, sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn and Harverd Hoekje and Gloria and Louis Culver; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Hoeve and Judy Hoeve; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be 1:30 pm Friday, June 3, 2022, at Vriesland Reformed Church, 6839 Byron Road, Zeeland. Interment will be in Bentheim Cemetery.
