Rev. Jon Smith

June 16, 1952 - January 17, 2022

Reverend Jon Smith, dedicated Reformed Pastor for 35 years, ended his earthly service to his Lord on January 17th, 2022. He will be remembered by many for his faithful devotion to preaching the truth with boldness. Jon was born on June 16, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Baxter and Marguerite (Luker) Smith. After high school, Jon studied at Bob Jones University, Southeast Bible College, the Protestant Reformed Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Whitefield Theological Seminary. He served as the pastor of five churches: Edgerton Protestant Reformed Church in Minnesota, Trinity Protestant Reformed Church in Houston, Texas, First Presbyterian Church in Hueytown, Alabama, Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Lauderhill, Florida, Fellowship Reformed of Post Falls, Idaho. Rev. Smith and his wife Kristie retired to Wyoming, Michigan in 2017. Jon and Kristie (nee Santon) graduated from Bob Jones University in the morning and were also married later in the afternoon May 29, 1974. Jon is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kristie, their four children: Arend Smith, Camey (Isaiah) Ramirez, Monica (Greg) Zandstra, Matthew Smith; nine grandchildren, sisters: Carol Kenkel, Jo (Tony) Campbell; and several extended family members. A private family service will be held. Interment will be in Overisel Cemetery.
