Ovella Stephens

Ovella Stephens, age 84 of Holland passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022. She is survived by her children: Mary Essig, Jerry and Kelly Stephens, Robbie Stephens, William Stephens, Tim and Ron Stephens, Lewis and Shannon Stephens; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Alea and Jason Bosley (Paige), Thom Stephens, Joe Stephens (Jamison and Maxwell), Stephanie and Nick Windemuller (Landyn), Sean Stephens, Christopher Stephens; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Barbara Elliott, Larry De Boer, Ben and Darlene Stephens, Frank Stephens and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents Roy and Ethel (Penrod) Elliott, mother-in-law Mary (Hall) Byrd, siblings: Frank Elliott, and Juanita Johnson; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: John Stephens, Joe Stephens and Mary De Boer; granddaughter Kristy Stephens and her nephew Mark Johnson. Ovella was born on November 4, 1937, in Ripley County, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Holland and she worked for many years at General Electric and later Meijer. She enjoyed serving her family, friends and church, gardening, crocheting, and sewing. Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be 10 am Monday, March 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 1066 East 8th Street, Holland. Interment will be in Graafschap Cemetery.
