Robert A. Vandenbelt

December 4, 1926 - November 15, 2013

Robert A. Vandenbelt age 86, of Holland, died Friday, November 15, 2013 at Holland Hospital. Bob was born and raised on the family farm and lived his entire life there. He left at the age of 17 to serve his country in the Merchant Marine during WWII. Later he became a member of the United States Army during the Korean War, serving from 1951-1953. These military years were a source of great pride and achievement to Bob. He worked for Chris Craft for several years prior to working for Consumers Energy, where he retired from, following over 40 years of employment. He is survived by his daughters, Sharron and Ron Wright of Spring Lake, Jane and Cal Van Oss of Holland, Linda and Jon Bos of Hudsonville; 12 grandchildren, Robert and Andrea De Fouw, Steven De Fouw, Stacey De Fouw and fiancé, Scott Bromley, Kristyn De Fouw, Jeffrey Van Oss and fiancé, Jessica Lum, David Van Oss and fiancé, Katie Nuiver, Phillip Van Oss, Ryan Van Oss, Ryan and Rachel Martinie, Lydia Bos, Naomi Bos, Anika Bos; 3 great grandchildren, Robyn, Charley, and Weston De Fouw. A memorial service with military honors will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Rev. Todd Krygsheld officiaiting. Burial will be in East Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
