Roscoe De Vries Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roscoe De Vries age 95, of Holland, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel (Japinga) in 1994. He was a life-long member of Central Park Reformed Church where he was active in the consistory. He worked as a livestock dealer for several years before becoming the Drain Commissioner for Ottawa County. He worked for the county for over 27 years. Roscoe is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Van Kampen); daughters, Jane and Chuck Zwiers of Holland, Barb and Bob Long of Holland, Kendra and Dave Williams of Holland, Gwen Schurman of Holland; 8 grandchildren, Rob and Anna Long, Beth and Jeff De Vries, Jenn and Matt Koning, Kim and Josh Rumpsa, John and Sarah Zwiers, Sutton Williams, Zachary Williams, Whitnie Schurman; 6 great grandchildren; step-sister, Ruth Knudsen of Holland; mother-in-law, Alma Van Kampen of Holland; in-laws, Gladys Japinga of Holland, Nancy Van Kampen of Holland, Sherry and Rick Vander Kolk of Zeeland, Mark and Sherry Van Kampen of Lansing; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Revs. Larry Schuyler and Kevin Kleinheksel officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, November 11, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland. www.langelandsterenberg.com.
