Sharon Ter Horst

July 24, 1954 - April 7, 2017

Sharon K. Ter Horst, 62, of Holland, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior with her family by her side on Friday, April 7, 2017. Sharon is alive now more than ever. Sharon was born July 24, 1954, in Holland, Michigan, to Nelson and Myrtle (Winkels) Ver Beek. She graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1972. Sharon married the love of her life, Michael Ter Horst, on November 8, 1974. Sharon and Michael raised their family in Holland and they are members of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. Sharon worked at Russ' Restaurant Southtown for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law Bernard and Joy Ter Horst, and her brothers-in-law Gerry Gelder and John Hulst. Sharon's strong faith and love for her family profoundly defined her life. She poured pure love into her marriage, her children, and grandchildren. They all knew, understood, and felt her devotion. Sharon was a gift from God. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Ter Horst, their children: Elizabeth and Andy Vander Zwaag of Drenthe, Matthew Ter Horst of Drenthe, Melissa and Jason Turkstra of Holland; three grandchildren: Gavin, Eviney, Zavien; sister Joann Gelder, in-laws: Brenda Ter Horst, Linda Hulst, Sandy and Mike Berg, Scott and Pat Ter Horst, Brian and Sandy Ter Horst, nieces and nephews. A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Sharon Ter Horst will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, 400 Beeline Rd. 49424. Visitation will be 5:00-7:30 pm, Tuesday at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland, 49423. Visitation will also be 9:00-10:45 Wednesday prior to the funeral. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or Zeeland Christian School.
