Vernon Beelen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Vernon Beelen age 83, of Holland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 9, 2014. He was a member of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church and former member of Prospect Park Christian Reformed Church where he served on the consistory. He served on the Holland Christian School Board for twelve years, five as the chairman. Vern owned and operated Vernon Beelen Decorating for many years, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Bouwman) in 2008 and a sister, Laura Beelen. He is survived by his daughters; Carol L. Brink of Holland, Patricia and Del Steketee of Holland; 4 grandchildren, Jeff and Laura Brink, Lynae Steketee, Kara Steketee and fiancé Josh Higgs, Tyler Steketee; brothers and sister; Kenneth and Agnes Beelen of Holland, Howard and Vonnie Beelen of Allendale, Rev. Marvin Beelen of Grand Rapids, Milton and Mary Beelen of Holland, Thelma and Audley Pelon of Zeeland; sisters-in-law; Barbara Hettinga of Holland, Bernadette Bouwman of Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland with Revs. Chad Steenwyk and Marvin Beelen officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Holland Christian Schools. www.langeland-Sterenberg.com.
