Alma Lohman

Alma Fern Lohman, age 87, of Hamilton, MI and Lillian, AL, passed from this life to her eternal life on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Pensacola, FL. Alma was born in Holland, where she graduated from Holland High School. She held various jobs, eventually working at General Electric where they helped further her education at Michigan State University. She went on to become manager of the Computer Department and retired there as an Executive Secretary. Alma was active in numerous activities throughout her life. She was a Brownie Leader, 1st member of the Michigan Republican Party, a 4-H Leader where she showed and raised Quarter Horses, member of the Hunt Club, Red Hatters, Hill Toppers, Rotterstateretts and Doll Clubs. She enjoyed her Peacocks, Pheasants and other exotic birds, paintings, collecting antiques, gardening and flowers, and loved to dance. She also loved being with her friends and family, giving dinner parties, playing softball, skeet shooting, fishing, deer hunting, and any board or card games. Alma was involved in both Hamilton Reformed Church and Lillian United Methodist Church, and found great joy working with the children of the church. She shared some of the most memorable children's messages that will be cherished for years to come. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lohman; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Kenneth McCrory; baby girl, Aimee Jurries and grand daughter-in-law, Lauryl (Harper) Jurries. Alma is survived by her close friend, Jay Dufer; daughter, Sandra and Roger Jurries; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Arlene Koomen, Glenn and Shirley Schrotenboer; half-siblings, Lois and Lloyd Immink, Arlene and Ron Morley, Judy and Dale Windemuller, Sherry and Rick De Haan, Paul and Marie Jacobs, Dave and Cindy Jacobs; step-siblings, Ruth and Hollis Brouwer, Shirley Jacobs, Roger and Hermina Jacobs and Joyce Jacobs. A memorial service is planned for 2:00pm Saturday, February 28 at Hamilton Reformed Church, 3554 M-40, Hamilton, with Rev. Larry LePoire officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hamilton.
