With deep sorrow and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gloria Arvizu Aguillon, who was called home on February 12, 2026, surrounded by her daughters who loved her beyond words. Gloria Arvizu Aguillon, 56, of Holland, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 12, 2026. Gloria was born on April 5, 1969, in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Saturnino Arvizu and Maria Asención Aguillon. Gloria was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was defined by her deep love for her daughters, Emily Gombas-Salazar, Elisabeth Salazar, and Esmerelda Salazar. They were the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to caring for them, guiding them, and supporting them with unwavering strength and devotion. Even at a preschool age, she showed that same nurturing spirit, lovingly helping to care for her younger sister, a reflection of the motherly heart she carried throughout her life. Her love was constant, sacrificial, and unconditional, forming the foundation of their lives. She worked hard her entire life with a strength that defined who she was. From a very young age, she carried responsibilities far beyond her years, beginning to work at just 11 years old to help provide food for herself and her family. At 13, she left Mexico and began carrying even greater responsibility, helping to support those she loved while building a life shaped by sacrifice and determination. Through hardship, she developed perseverance, resilience, and quiet courage. She endured each challenge with dignity, never giving up, and continued to work tirelessly to create stability and opportunity for her family. She was also full of humor, always making jokes to lift others and bring comfort during difficult moments. Her smile was truly beautiful, and it had a way of making you feel happy, loved, and at peace. Her strength became the foundation of her family, and it lives on in those she loved. Gloria was generous and wise, always offering guidance, encouragement, and care to those around her. She also deeply loved her nieces and nephews and wanted the very best for each of them. She was never afraid to speak honestly when she knew it would help them, encouraging them to live well and pursue meaningful lives. She shared her life lessons openly, guided by her desire to protect and uplift her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Emily Gombas-Salazar, Elisabeth Salazar, and Esmerelda Salazar; her husband Enrique Ynez, her parents, Saturnino Arvizu and Maria Asención Aguillon; and her siblings: Celia Arvizu Aguillon and family; Estela Arvizu Aguillon and family; Luis Arvizu Aguillon and family; Micaela Arvizu Aguillon and family; Blanca Alicea and family; Eduardo Arvizu Aguillon and family; Estanislao Arvizu Aguillon and his daughter; Jose Gerardo Arvizu Aguillon; Rita Arvizu Aguillon and family; Jorge Armando Arvizu Aguillon and family; and Alejandro Arvizu Aguillon. Cada que venías a tu tierra donde naciste, nos cuidabas con amor, siempre procurando que comiéramos rico y saludable. Siempre vivirás en mi corazón. Esto no es un adiós, sino un hasta pronto. Allá en el cielo nos reuniremos." Gloria's passing leaves profound pain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her love, her strength, and her presence will remain with her daughters and family always. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Funeral services are planned for 11:00am Monday, February 23, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland. Pastor Raul Garcia will officiate. Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00-7:00pm Sunday, February 22, also at the funeral home.
