Mrs. Hattie Brunink Klynstra

"There are many homes up there where my Father lives and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready then I will come and get you so that you can always be with me where I am." John 14:2-3a. On Monday, January 12, 2015, Jesus took Hattie by the hand and led her to her new home. Hattie was born January 2, 1921, in Oakland, to Evert and Grace (Hulst) Vis. She married John Brunink in June of 1940. They settled in Zeeland and were blessed with six children: Bern and Betty Brunink of Holland, Ed Brunink and friend Elaine Lauska of Hudson, FL (Ed passed away in 2011), Dee and Jerry Kraai of Irons, Glady and Harley Ponstein of Zeeland (Harley passed away in 2010), Jerry and Jan Brunink of Holland, Marcia Brunink of Holland. Hattie and John were married for 43 years when John died in 1983. Hattie was a widow for 10 years, and in 1994 she met and married Cornelius "Case" Klynstra. They were together until Case's passing in January of 2009. Hattie is also preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Gerrit, Henry, and Jennie Vis, grandson Kyle Brunink in 1976, and granddaughter Sally Kraai Kammeraad in 1989. She leaves behind her children, 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law Elmer Vredeveld of Zeeland, and many nieces and nephews. Hattie was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. She was a kind and gentle woman who walked with her Lord and Savior daily. She was a firm yet gentle mother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children and their families. Hattie will be remembered by all the beautiful doilies and afghans she crocheted and knit for her family. She enjoyed word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, baking and sewing. Her great love was music. She loved listening to older hymns and enjoyed playing them on the piano and organ. Hattie's family would like to thank everyone in the Gilead Unit at Providence Healthcare and Hospice of Holland for their kind and compassionate care for mom. They are God's richest blessing to us. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 541 East Main Ave., Zeeland. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Wednesday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
