Helen Haveman

Helen Haveman, 82, of Holland, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021, in her home, surrounded by her family. Helen Haveman was born February 12, 1939, in Holland, MI, to Albert and Harriet Teerman, who both preceded her in death. She graduated from Holland Christian High School, and soon after happily married. She was a loving mother to five children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen's father and uncle founded Teerman's of Holland, where she worked for most of her life, before retiring in 2013. She was a member of Overisel Christian Reformed Church, where she was involved in many functions. Helen was an avid quilter and baker. She is remembered as truly and constantly loving, who would always provide a slice of her homemade bread and affirmation after a long day. In each conversation with Helen, her care was evident in every word and remark. Helen had profound Christian faith and demonstrated the love of Christ with a constancy that was both remarkable and reassuring to all those who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Bernard Haveman; daughter, Laurie Haveman; daughter, Christine and Stephen Roberts; son, Jonathan Haveman; daughter, Linda and Jeffrey LaFleur; daughter, Sarah and Kevin Essenburg; grandchildren, Gerrid and Kylie Mouw, Katelyn Breyfogle, Jason Mouw, Matthew Roberts, Elizabeth and Rachel Hamstra-Roberts, Jonniah Haveman, Nickolas Haveman, Alexandria and Corey Schrotenboer, Nicholas and Taylor LaFleur, Andrea Essenburg, Lauren Essenburg, Isabella Essenburg; great-grandchildren, Norah, Blake, Hattie, Ophelia, Charlotte, Sawyer; sister, Kathleen Kolk; sister-in-law, Esther Bakker; sister-in-law, Beatrice Rozeboom; sister-in-law, Shirley Haveman; and several nieces and nephews. A private family service and burial is taking place. A time of visitation with the family is planned for 3:00-5:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Overisel Christian Reformed Church, 4724 142nd Ave. Holland, MI 49423. Please use the lower-level entrance. Burial to take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Helen's honor may be given to Holland Christian Schools.
