Patricia Ann (Klaasen) DeVries

Patricia Ann (Klaasen) DeVries was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 20 at her home. She fought a battle with cancer, and, in God's mercy, is now healthy and whole in heaven. Pat graduated from Holland Christian School and Blodgett School of nursing and spent her life caring for others. After marrying her beloved, Cal, and while raising their four daughters, Pat worked as a nurse and at a private practice doctor's office. After Cal passed away, she nurtured her adventurous, independent time with friends. Her second great love story began when she married Rev. Michael DeVries in 2007. She and Michael served the church together in retirement, both using their gifts of hospitality. Pat volunteered at Holland Free Clinic and she and Michael enjoyed entertaining friends and showing their love for their children, grandchildren and great grandsons by attending their concerts, sporting events, horse shows, graduations and weddings. She was a lifelong member of Pillar Church. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Klaasen in 1998; her second husband, Rev. Michael DeVries in 2017; brother, Warren Kemme; and sister-in-law, Vicki Klaasen. Rev. Jon Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 2-5pm Sunday, June 24 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland. Memorial contributions may be made to Holland Christian Schools, Zeeland Christian Schools, Michael DeVries Scholarship Fund at Calvin Seminary and the Holland Free Clinic.
