Richard Velddhoff

Richard Veldhoff, age 91 of Fort Payne, AL, formerly of Holland, MI passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014. He was born to Ira and Bertha (DeGrote) Veldhoff on April 21, 1923. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years and 11 months Norma (DeVries) Veldhoff, son Robert Veldhoff, daughter Phyllis Huddleston, grandson and his wife Richard Lee and Shannon Huddleston, son-in-laws: Colin Huddleston, George Alderink, George Anthony, brother Raymond Veldhoff, sister Margaret Wedeven, brother and sister-in-laws: Alfred Wedeven, Ernest Korhorn, William Bowerman, Frank DeVries, Wilamina DeVries, Stanley DeVries, Lucille DeVries and Audrey Jacobusse. Richard is survived by his daughters, Donna Alderink and friend Warren Miller of Brooksville, FL and Mentor, OH, Elaine and Alton Overweg of Holland, MI, Lois Anthony and friend Jerry Danles of Fort Payne, AL and Niles, MI; sister, Josephine Korhorn of Grand Rapids, MI; in-laws, Winifred Bowerman of Holland, MI, Wayne Jacobusse of Holland, MI; grandchildren, George Alderink (FL), Theresa (Greg) Larson (FL), Alton (Laura) Overweg (MI), Roxann (John) Oetman (MI), Scott (Rachel) Overweg (MI), Renee (Brian) Wheeler (FL), Charles (Joanie) Anthony (AL); great grandchildren, Katherine Larson (FL), Stephanie (Tomlin) Monroe (MI), Katherine Oetman (MI), Kacie Jones (MI), Richard Overweg (MI), Evan Overweg (MI), Rachel Huddleston (GA), Dana Huddleston (GA), Michael (Shelby) Huddleston (GA), Erin Huddleston (GA), Christopher (Bethany) Merrill (FL) Forrest Wheeler (FL), Chase Wheeler (FL), Tyler Anthony (AL), Kaelyn Anthony (AL) and Aubree Anthony (AL); great great grandchildren, Annabelle Monroe (MI), Sophia Hoffmeyer (MI), Addison Hoffmeyer (MI), Raelynne Hoffmeyer (MI), Addelynne Huddleston, (GA) Raylan Huddleston (GA). Richard worked at C&O Railroad, Jessic's Marine, Easter Marine, Rem Die Casting, Baker Furniture, Holland Die Casting and H.J. Heinz. The family would also like to acknowledge a special friend of Richards, Doris Steward. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
